SUNNUP 2026: Where Saint Lucia’s Carnival Sunday Rose to the Sound of Soca, Bouyon Dennery and Pure Caribbean Energy

There are some events that feel like a party, and then there are events that feel like a full Caribbean experience. SUNNUP 2026 firmly belonged in the latter category.

Held on Carnival Sunday, July 19, at the picturesque Sandals Golf & Country Club in Cap Estate, SUNNUP brought together food, drinks, music, fashion and the unmistakable energy of Saint Lucia Carnival. Organised by Fuzion Mas, the all-inclusive breakfast experience invited patrons to “rise different” — and judging by the atmosphere, they certainly did.

From the early hours, the venue steadily filled with beautifully dressed patrons ready to make the most of Carnival Sunday. SUNNUP’s setting provided an ideal backdrop for a morning fête, but it was the entertainment that truly drove the experience.

DJs Set the Pace

The DJ lineup understood the assignment.

With soca, bouyon, Dennery and Caribbean favourites flowing throughout the morning, the music never allowed the energy to settle. The selectors kept patrons moving while giving the live performers the space to make their impact.

The beauty of SUNNUP was the balance between the DJs and live entertainment. Rather than allowing the performances to feel like isolated moments, the music built naturally towards each appearance, keeping the crowd involved from one segment to the next.

More Fire Band Brings the Live Energy

One of the major highlights was undoubtedly More Fire Band.

Live bands can completely change the character of a breakfast fête, and More Fire demonstrated exactly why. Their performance brought an additional layer of musicianship and raw Caribbean energy to the event.

The band had patrons singing, dancing and waving as the live instrumentation pushed the atmosphere beyond what a DJ set alone could deliver. There was a genuine connection between the musicians and the audience, with the crowd responding to every rhythm and musical change.

For SUNNUP, More Fire Band wasn’t simply another act on the programme — they became part of the experience.

Ezra D’ FunMachine Meets TK

Another standout moment came when Saint Lucia’s own Ezra D’ FunMachine shared the spotlight with Dominican bouyon artist TK.

Ezra, one of Saint Lucia’s leading soca performers, is no stranger to commanding a carnival crowd. He was one of the finalists in both the Power and Groovy Soca categories for Saint Lucia Carnival 2026, with “Salute” and “Mr. Complimentary” respectively.

But the interaction between Ezra and TK was what made this moment particularly special.

Rather than simply performing one after the other, the two artists fed off each other’s energy. The exchange highlighted the natural musical relationship between Saint Lucian soca and Dominican bouyon — two Caribbean sounds that may come from different islands but share the same ability to move a crowd.

The interaction felt spontaneous, energetic and authentic. Ezra’s Lucian soca energy met TK’s Dominican bouyon style, and the audience became the beneficiary.

It was one of those carnival moments where the distinction between performer and patron disappears. The artists were feeding the crowd, the crowd was feeding the artists, and the entire venue became part of the performance.

More Than Just a Breakfast Fête

SUNNUP has positioned itself as more than simply an early-morning party. Its all-inclusive format combines breakfast, drinks and entertainment, creating an experience that carries patrons from sunrise into the heart of Carnival Sunday.

And the location certainly helped.

The Sandals Golf & Country Club in Cap Estate provided an expansive setting for the event, allowing patrons to enjoy the morning while still having plenty of room to move, dance and interact. The venue has become a familiar location for major carnival events, with other 2026 experiences also taking place there.

More Fire Band provided one of the morning’s strongest live moments, while the interaction between Ezra D’ FunMachine and TK demonstrated exactly what makes Caribbean carnival culture so powerful — the ability to bring different islands, sounds and audiences together through music.

SUNNUP wasn’t just about watching performances. It was about being part of them.

From the first rhythms of the morning to the final moments before midday, the event captured the spirit of Saint Lucia Carnival: colourful, energetic, musical and unapologetically Caribbean.
